

He was born in Prague and studied at the Prague State Conservatory. In his youth, he was also involved in music; among other things, he sang in the Czech version of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar and played in a band.
After a brief engagement at the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové, he joined the ensemble of Divadlo pod Palmovkou in 1998, where he remains to this day. Over more than two decades, he has created a number of distinctive roles there, including Werther in Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther, Orpheus in Anouilh’s Eurydice, Yasha in The Cherry Orchard, Rodolpho in Miller’s A View from the Bridge, Iago in Shakespeare’s Othello and Maximilian Aue in the adaptation of Littell’s The Kindly Ones. He has also attracted considerable attention with musical roles, for example as Joe/Josephine in Sugar – Some Like It Hot or Amos Hart in the musical Chicago.
For his acting performances, he has been nominated for the Thalia Award three times. First in 2008 for the role of Mánek in Preissová’s Gazdina roba, then in 2014 for his portrayal of Iago in Shakespeare’s Othello, and for the third time in 2016 for the role of Maximilian Aue in the production The Kindly Ones.
He has also appeared as a guest at the Vinohrady Theatre and Švanda Theatre, and regularly performs at the Summer Shakespeare Festival, where he has portrayed, for example, Laertes in Hamlet, Biron in Love’s Labour’s Lost, Cassio in Othello and Orlando in As You Like It.
In the 2024/2025 season, his key roles include Professor Henry Higgins in the production Pygmalion and the mobster Viktor in the rap musical Night of Broken Nails.
He has appeared, for example, in the films Pleasant Moments Without Guarantee (2006) and Angels of Everyday Life (2014), and has also made a strong mark in television, appearing in the TV films A Case for a Skier (2016) and The Trap (2020). Audiences also know him from popular television series, including Kriminálka Anděl, Vyprávěj, Atentát, Specialisté and Dark Region. Dubbing is also an integral part of his profession; he has lent his voice to a wide range of foreign actors and film and television characters.
